Three new photos of Princess Charlotte have been released to mark her seventh birthday tomorrow.
The Duchess of Cambridge took the photos this weekend at the family’s country home in Norfolk.
Princess Charlotte sits in a field of bluebells in the new photographs and, in one image, is joined by a member of the family, the Cambridge’s spaniel, Orla.
More from The Telegraph’s story by Hannah Furness.
Thought to be around two years old, the dog joined the Cambridge family in 2020 shortly before the death of their beloved Lupo….Orla was bred by the Duchess’s brother James Middleton. Her mother is Luna, sister to Lupo.
In January 2021, it was reported that the Cambridge family had chosen their new puppy from Luna’s litter…
Prince George and Princess Charlotte are reported to have helped pick out the puppy. Below, the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Lupo, and Prince William, in a photo released before the family’s 2014 tour of New Zealand and Australia.
Here is a comparison to last year’s birthday photo.
We do not have a long year in review section because of the pandemic. We did see the Princess in the 2021 Cambridge family Christmas card photo.
The Princess attended the service of thanksgiving for Prince Philip in late March of this year.
She also joined Prince George and her parents at church on Easter Sunday just two weeks ago.
The Princess was in blue on that occasion as well.
Now for a quick look at what Princess Charlotte wore in her new birthday photo, starting with her sweater. It very much looks like Ralph Lauren’s Cable-Knit Cashmere Sweater ($225) in a color called ‘new Litchfield.’
You’ll find it offered in girls’ and boys’ sizes, although I think it is really a unisex piece. The crewneck style is 100% cashmere with ribbing at the crewneck, cuffs, and hem.
When first seeing the photos, I thought, “Oh, it is the Next polo worn when starting a foot race at Sandringham last June.”
But a closer look at the collar shows that is not the case. Today’s style has patterned polka dots, and I think it may be a woven piece instead of a knit design like the Next polo shirt. (The Next polo is shown in the center.) I will be able to look for the shirt later tonight and tomorrow and will update the post if I learn anything new. See update below.
UPDATE MAY 3: It turns out Princess Charlotte was wearing the same top in the photos, I was wrong about the dots looking different. Thank you to Found by Bojana for sharing a photo with a closeup view of the polka dots; seeing that made it clear they are identical to the dots on the shirt worn by Princess Charlotte!
We don’t see enough of the trousers worn in the pictures to identify them.
Here you see Princess Charlotte as she turns seven alongside her older brother Prince George at the same age.
And a retrospective of the Princess in seven official birthday photos.
Happy Birthday, Princess Charlotte!
I think the third birthday is actually her first day at nursery school. They were taken in January of 2018, I believe. I think the ones of her with Louis are her third birthday. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Thank you for the input, Margaret! The photo on the steps is the image released by Kensington Palace on social media for her third birthday with an accompanying birthday greeting. We hope for a special photo, but that was not the case. 🙂
Kate is such a fantastic photographer! Thanks to all the sharp eyes who identify what Kate’s kids wore! And to the person(s) who started this site to begin with!
Beautiful pictures, Happy Birthday Charlotte. I think she looks like William. She looks so grow up.
Could her pants be this?
I think this is this pant https://www.ralphlauren.fr/fr/legging%C2%A0en-coton-melange-stretch-495702.html?dwvar495702_colorname=Newport%20Navy&cgid=girls-trousers-skirts&webcat=girls%2FJupes%20%20%20Pantalons#webcat=girls%7CJupes%20&start=1&cgid=girls-trousers-skirts
Thank you, Severine, that is a good possibility! Hopefully, we will see them again at some point so we can positively identify them. 🙂
