We had a lovely surprise this afternoon when photos started appearing on social media of Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The young royals went to a football match with their parents. You can just see Princess Charlotte on the right side of this photo in a red top.
Aston Villa was playing Norwich City. More from Hello! magazine’s story:
Charlotte sat on her mum’s knee, who appeared to be explaining the game to her daughter, while George was next to his dad….

More from a Metro story:
When George was a toddler, William revealed that he would ‘love’ to attend football matches with his son, but said he would need to ‘pass that by the missus’. He added that it would ‘fantastic’ if the future-king decided to follow the club, before joking that it would ‘probably end up being that Charlotte is the Villa fan’.

The Hello! story also noted that the family picked “…a great game, as the heir to the throne’s team Aston Villa established a great lead over their local club.”

George was very excited when the team scored.

? @SoccerAM — a fantastic performance from Aston Villa @AVFCofficial at Norwich today! ?⚽
We return to the Metro story for more.
After their victory against Norwich today, Villa manager Dean Smith said the royals were clearly the team’s lucky charm.
He told BBC’s Match of the Day: ‘I’ll be getting them tickets for every game now if they need tickets because, you know, we got the result today. ‘I’ll even put a call in and see if I can get them on the team coach next game.’
Another fun video.

You might have noticed a familiar face in some of the photos, that of Sophie Snuggs, seen on the far right of this picture.

She is a very close friend of the Duchess. Both Charlotte and George were in her wedding party last September.
She is also a godmother to Charlotte. You see her here arriving for Charlotte’s July 2015 christening.
We may see the children in another wedding. There are reports Kate’s brother, James Middleton, is engaged to Alizee Thevenet, and they may be part of that wedding party. You see the couple below at the May wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston.

It’s impossible to say what either child was wearing other than George’s tee shirt and Charlotte’s red sweater over what looks like a navy turtleneck.
UPDATE Oct 5: Natasha suggested on the Facebook page that Prince George was wearing this tee, and it certainly looks like what he was wearing.
It is part of the official Aston Villa Team PJ Set ($33).
UPDATE #2 OCT 10: With thanks to the amazing Bojanana for another amazing ID, it looks like Princess Charlotte was in a sweater by Boden. It is the brand’s Cable Cardigan in ‘a color called ‘rockabilly red’. The sweater is 100% acrylic with a button front, ribbed neckline, cuffs and hem, with cabling down the front and sleeves. Bojanana’s tweet has pictures from the match that show the cardigan quite well, making it clear the ID is spot-on.
Other than George’s top & Charlotte’s sweater, it looks like this will be an instance where we just enjoy the photos.
Such a wonderful family outing to, with the four of them enjoying themselves together. Natasha’s suggestion on George’s top is little short of genius, and amusing that it might be one half of a PJ set – even royals have to be versatile when it comes to kidswear. Charlotte’s Boden cardigan is just cute, the style definitely rocks with me, the styling not unlike some of the fancy lace tops Kate wears with jeans, as when she went to a rodeo in Canada. How these IDs are secured remains a mystery to me, and I’m so grateful for all the keen sleuths!
WKKW – beaming faces……best wardrobe in the world. Delighted the family had an outing with results “they” prefer.
