Prince George and Princess Charlotte made another delightful appearance as bridesmaid and page boy this weekend. On this occasion, it was at the wedding of one of Kate’s closest friends, Sophie Carter. Royal Photographer Mark Stewart shot the exclusive photos, and we were able to license some to share with you here on WKKW.
The picture above is one of my favorites because of the expressions on both George and Charlotte’s faces. It reminds me of William referring to George as a ‘little monkey’ just before his second birthday. It almost looks like Charlotte is thinking, “What is he doing now?” More from a People story:
George, 5, can be seen marching around with a smile on his face, while his sister Charlotte, 3, gives her big brother an amused look.
“George is a real star, quite the little chap,” a source told PEOPLE on Saturday. “He was having a great time, running around like the leader of the pack.”
The Prince looked like he was having a terrific time.
The bride is also one of Princess Charlotte’s godmothers. Here you see Ms. Carter as she arrived for Charlotte’s christening.
More on the children from People’s coverage:
George and Charlotte were also on their cutest behavior when it came time to take wedding photos with the bride and her new husband, Robert Snuggs.
In the images, Kate holds Charlotte in her arms while looking on with a smile at her eldest son, who’s standing front and center near the happy couple.
We believe the children wore outfits from a familiar retailer, Amaia Kids.
The ever-savvy Bojanana noticed these ensembles when shared on the Amaia Kids Instagram and Twitter accounts Saturday. Laura pointed out that the names on two of the hangers appear to say “George” and “Charlotte.”
Maria Pasquini’s People article says the girls’ dresses are ivory linen with royal blue embroidered edging. Here you see the similarities between Charlotte’s bodice and that of the Bella Flower Girl Dress. The dresses also feature a sash tied in the back, ruffled collar, and a full skirt that looks like it sits atop a petticoat.
The bridesmaids wore floral headpieces, and one young lady is seen wearing a coordinating cardigan. The girls wore a classic Mary Jane shoe that I’ve not yet identified is said to be by Amaia Kids.
The boys were in linen tops that look much like a traditional chef’s jacket on the hanger, with a high collar and double-breasted styling. That look disappeared in large part once seen on the boys; the shirts were tucked into their cummerbunds, not hanging over the top of their trousers as a standard chef’s jacket would.
It’s possible the shirts were loosely modeled on the Amaia Kids ‘Harry’ shirt. Among the changes from that style: the boys’ shirts are linen, they have a stand collar and self-covered buttons.
Below, the Amaia Silk Knickerbocker (what we would call a pair of shorts) and the page boys linen knickerbocker; the similarity I noticed between the two styles is the stitched front crease.
The linen cummerbund at Amaia Kids ($34) looks much like what the boys wore on Saturday.
Here is a closer look at the shoes worn by the page boys. UPDATED Monday, September 24: We initially thought the shoes might be by Papouelli, but they tell us the boys are not wearing one of their styles. With thanks to Monique Jessen of People, it turns out both the boys and girls are wearing Amaia Kids footwear.
NOTE: A special thank you to Tiegan of the Cambridges blog for her input on the styles worn by both children at the wedding!
People magazine has some of the terrific photos.

Of course, this is becoming familiar duty for the Cambridge children. Most recently they were bridesmaid and page boy at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May of this year. On that occasion, Charlotte wore a Givenchy Haute Couture dress with Aquazzura shoes, and George was in a child-size version of the Blues and Royals frockcoat worn by his Uncle Harry and his father.
When their Aunt Pippa married James Matthews in May 2017, the pair looked equally precious, wearing ensembles by Pepa and Company. George had on a pleated silk shirt and silk knickerbockers with a matching cummerbund. Charlotte wore an ivory silk dress with a frilled collar and pink sash.
We hope to see the Prince and Princess as bridesmaid and page boy at the October 12 wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
More about the family’s longtime relationship with the bride from People:
Kate has been friends with Sophie for many years, with the two enjoying birthday celebrations together as well as more public events such as the Wimbledon. Sophie, who is one of Charlotte’s godparents, has previously joined the Cambridges on ski vacations and has even accompanied Kate to church with the Queen at Sandringham.
The best way to see all of the photos is to view the People story here or the Daily Mail article here.
The dress worn by the bridesmaids is the “Emilie” dress from Amaia kids. You can find it under “bespoke dresses”
Thank you! It briefly crossed my mind that it could be Kate’s, but it seemed like such an unlikely shape for her carry. Well, mystery solved!
I was clearly off base, thinking it definitely was *not* Kate’s bag! 🙂
What is Charlotte holding? It looks like a large blue purse. Maybe for flower petals?
That’s a good question, Mary. I saw someone refer to it as Kate’s handbag, but I’m thinking that doesn’t look like a DofC handbag. I think more like what you mention, something for flower petals, maybe something to play with?
Updating my response, it turns out it was Kate’s bag! There’s more in this story: https://www.instyle.com/news/princess-charlotte-stealing-kate-middleton-purse 🙂
