Princess Charlotte and Prince George were one of the highlights at today’s Trooping the Colour events.
They waved at the RAF planes flying over Buckingham Palace today, along with their cousin, 7-year-old Savannah Phillips (in the pink dress). This GIF from Christin (aka @PackhamGown on Twitter) gives you a sense of the children’s enthusiasm.

We’ll return to the children on the Palace balcony, but first, a little background on the day from The Express:
The parade officially begins after the Queen departs Buckingham Palace in a carriage to inspect the troops along a route across St James’s Park towards Horse Guards Parade.
There were 200 horses in the parade this year, and 400 musicians.
From TIME’s story:
Trooping the Colour is a longstanding tradition that celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday. Queen Elizabeth II already turned 92 years old on her real birthday, April 21. But the monarchy holds the event on the second Saturday in June to celebrate in the sun, and it’s replete with military drills galore.
From left to right you see George and Charlotte’s Grandfather, Father, Great Aunt Anne and Great Uncle Andrew at today’s ceremony.
The bearskin hats that are part of the Guards distinctive uniforms are said to weigh almost two pounds.
As you saw at the top of the post, after the parade the youngsters joined other royals and guests on the Buckingham Palace balcony. Princess Charlotte seemed like she was just a little sleepy.
But everyone was excited when the first of the RAF aircraft approached the Palace.
At one point Savannah Phillips gestured to her cousin George, it looked like she was saying “shush.”

From People’s coverage of the day’s events:
Taking in her third balcony appearance, 3-year-old Charlotte knew just how to work the crowd of well-wishers below, smiling and waving. George, who turns 5 in July, was just as excited as he watched the roaring fly-past by the Royal Air Force.
Charlotte, Savannah and George reveling in the flyover.
More from The Telegraph:
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Isla and Savannah, all clearly excited for their big moment in front of the watching world, were given books explaining the different aircraft flying over their heads, studying them carefully before the noise of the flypast distracted them.
Then, they concentrated on waving wildly to the pilots, and clapping each new arrival.

A color-coordinated Duchess and daughter.
At one point Charlotte became a little weepy.
One story was that Charlotte dropped her booklet and bumped her head when looking for it; another is she didn’t like the noise from one of the large bombers. From what I could see in videos, it appeared she slipped and bumped her head.
This is one of my favorite photos of Prince George. (“Are you flying that plane over here or not?”)
Here is another favorite; in this picture, you see George and Isla Phillips, Savannah’s younger sister.

Now we move to our look at what George and Charlotte wore. As suggested by Laura on Twitter, George is wearing the ‘Daniel’ shirt from Amaia Kids.
Done in a white cotton poplin, the shirt has navy piping at the placket, collar and sleeve cuff ($56.70). People magazine reports the young Prince was also wearing the Gull Shorts in navy from Amaia; they are made in a soft cotton with pockets and a back elastic waist ($59.40).
Charlotte is in a familiar look.
The Princess wore an unidentified smocked floral dress with Peter Pan collar trimmed in white piping with a full skirt. The dress also has slightly puffed sleeves, buttons on the upper back, a waistband and full skirt.
Charlotte was in familiar shoes and anklets. The two photos below left are from today; center-right and far right you see the Condor ‘Plain Socks with Detail Cuff‘ and red shoes worn when the Cambridge family arrived in Poland last year.
The shoes look like another pair by Start-Rite. Charlotte’s hair ribbon is not from Amaia Kids; it looks like it may be a simple strip of grosgrain tied around a hair elastic.
Ahh the kids all looked so cute and all excited to be there (on the whole) even the older girls who were having a good time watching the 4 younger ones yuck it up. Love your caption for your favorite picture of George.
Once again I am left in awe at the amount of trouble being expended on finding clothes for both children which continue to look the same as much of what has been worn before, only a couple of sizes bigger. I like that George gets to wear his shorts long enough to almost reach the knee at least, and I still love the amazing smocking that Charlotte boasts on her sweet dresses. Great sleuthing!
Any news on where Charlotte’s dress came from please? It’s beautiful!
Not yet, Jean, I’m still searching. 🙂
Charlotte was all outgoing personality that we have normally seen from her. I loved seeing George look relaxed and like he was having a really good time with his cousins. A lot different from the more shy kid we have seen lately. This was one of my favourite Charlotte moments. https://twitter.com/packhamgown/status/1005428348758175744?s=21
Savannah and Isla dresses are from wild& gorgeous. They are the same dress but on different colours versions.
Isla is younger than Savannah! Savannah was born in 2010 and Isla in 2012… 😉
The children looked lovely! I agree, Charlotte slipped and fell down the little riser they put out for her to allow her to see better over the balcony… (I tagged you on Twitter with a video of the moment it happened!)
The whole family looked lovely!
Thank you Maddalena! 🙂
Do you know what was Isla Phillips’s dress?
