Prince Louis Christening Timing & Updated IDs

Posted on June 27, 2018 by WKKW

We are back with an update on Prince Louis’s christening, along with some quick ID information.

The christening is at 4 pm on Monday, July 9th.

It will be at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London, where Prince George was christened.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby (seen below right), will do the christening, as he did with Prince George.

Most will remember that Princess Charlotte was christened at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate.

Archbishop Welby also performed that ceremony. In this photo, his back is to the camera.

We expect to see Prince George and Princess Charlotte on the 9th, along with senior members of the Royal Family, Kate’s family and the godparents.

Now for a couple of updated IDs. The first involves the sunglasses Charlotte wore earlier this month at the Beaufort Polo Club.

On Twitter, Laura (Solid Moonlight) suggested the glasses were the Children’s Pretty Floral Sunglasses ($10) from UK retailer John Lewis.
The glasses have an acrylic frame and plastic lens. They even come with their own carrying case.

They are also available in a variety of colors and patterns.

Also helping in the ID process: Adriel, who shared photos on Twitter of Charlotte’s dress and sunglasses, both of which she owns. Initially, I wasn’t sure the sunglasses were the same pair Charlotte had on. But seeing the pictures Adriel posted makes me think this is probably the pair the Princess was wearing.

Adriel is also on Instagram, where you will see some splendid photos of items she has purchased that George and Charlotte have worn, as well as some darling repliKates.

Another look at Charlotte in her sunglasses and Amelia floral print cotton dress from the Little White Company.

There are other pieces in the print: there is a Floral Dungaree Set ($46), as well as a Floral Smock Dress & Bloomers ($44, also offered at Selfridges for $35) and a Floral Blouse and Bloomer set ($42).

For those fond of the brand, Selfridges carries a broad assortment of Little White Company goods, including a good selection of sale merchandise. Below, a hat in the same print as Charlotte’s dress, as shown at Selfridges.

Also today, a possible ID for the jumper worn in a photo of Charlotte with Kate, Nanny Maria Borrallo and baby Louis in the pram. Back in May, Christine B messaged to say she thought Charlotte was wearing the Cornflower Blue Floral Overall Dress ($42) from Jojo Maman Bébé.

The piece is 100% cotton and features adjustable straps, side snaps, and pockets. Cathy C owns the piece and suggests this is what Charlotte was wearing; she generously shared pictures on the WKKW Facebook page.

I thought the print Charlotte was wearing looked smaller in scale, so I searched (and searched!) for another Jojo Maman Bébé design in the same color palette but different print size. Thus far the only other item I can find in a white on blue print is a skort ($29).

But the scale of the pattern is too small. Additionally, it looks like a knit fabric, as opposed to the woven material used in the denim overall dress. I am beginning to think that Charlotte may well have been wearing the Cornflower Blue Overall Dress suggested by Christine, Cathy, and others.

Thanks to all of you who have so generously helped out with IDs! I would truly be a clueless wonder if not for your input.

It’s going to be magic seeing the royal newcomer again and I look forward very much to seeing a fabulous christening shawl again.

Congrats on fresh ID’s. I thought Charlotte managed to look so jet-set with her sunglasses, and I look at them longingly. However, when I saw that pink floral hat you found I knew without shadow of doubt that I simply had to have one similar at least, a sort of What Charlotte Might Have Worn if you like. It turns out there are adult versions of pink floral sunhats and I have one under offer on eBay right now…

I also like the style leap Charlotte made into a sleeveless sun dress on her polo outing, a refreshing break from the smocked short-sleeved frocks. I wonder what colour she might wear for the christening, could she possibly break out into something in white to match baby brother? It’s going to be fun!

I wondered if it was this Jojo Maman Bebe dress which is currently out of stock https://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/floral-dungaree-dress-d7945.html I think the print would look similar from a distance.

That is a good suggestion, Dilys. To me, it skews more blue than any other color, although it is difficult to tell from the photo. I would lean more toward the blue style, but I don’t think we’ll ever really know unless Charlotte is seen wearing the piece again. 🙂
