Princess Charlotte and Prince George were in familiar styles for the Queen’s annual pre-Christmas luncheon.
Above you see Kate, William, Charlotte and Nanny Maria Borrallo as they head to the luncheon. Held at Buckingham Palace, the event includes many royals who do not take part in the holiday festivities at Sandringham.
Below, Kate and George as they leave Kensington Palace.
More from The Daily Mirror:
The royal tots are attending the gathering alongside 50 members of their extended family, including relatives lower down the pecking order such as Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
More from Erin Hill’s People story:
The littlest royals George and Charlotte will no doubt be the center of attention at the lunch. Dad William recently shared 4-year-old George’s wish list for Santa and he took part in his school’s Christmas nativity play — as a sheep!
Princess Charlotte looked like she was in more pieces from Amaia Kids.
The ever-sharp Bojanana suggested Charlotte was wearing the retailer’s Starfruit Cardigan in burgundy, and I think she is correct. The sweater is made of a wool/cashmere blend, has mother of pearl buttons, and retails for $54.50 / £42. It remains available in mixed sizes. Below we show the piece with Amaia’s hair bows in the small and medium sizes. Tonight Amaia confirmed Charlotte is wearing one of the brand’s hair bows; they will let us know tomorrow about the sweater.
The dress worn by the Princess is very similar to one we’ve seen before, but not identical.
Above you see Charlotte as the family was leaving Canada last year, wearing a look that was repeated at Christmas. The piping at the collar is very similar to today’s dress but the fabric print is just slightly different; today’s pattern, seen below left, has more colors than the dress worn last year that we show below right.
So the dress is UFO at this point, and we’ll find out about the sweater tomorrow (Thursday).
We move now to Prince George, who was also in pieces by Amaia Kids. He was in the same jacket style that he wore to last year’s luncheon, but in a larger size. A look at George today in the Redwink Jacket in blue (£85, about $107 at today’s exchange rates). The garment is done in a classic boiled wool with navy tipping at the collar, cuffs, placket and hem.
Our thanks to George Gaylord on the WKKW Facebook page for sharing the jacket ID. Yours truly was experiencing major brain fade this morning; I had completely forgotten that George wore it last year. Kate obviously purchased it in multiple sizes; you can see photos of the young Prince wearing it last year by clicking here and/or clicking here.
Here is how we showed jacket/coat in last year’s post; we showed it in both the boy’s version on the left, and the girl’s style that was available last year.
When headed home after lunch the sweater George wore beneath his coat was visible in a few photos. The only images I’ve seen online that show the sweater also show George looking upset and frightened, and I don’t feel right linking to those.
With thanks to @IrishSara on Twitter for her sweater ID, it turns out the Prince was wearing another Amaia Kids piece, the Parsnip Jumper in the ‘Blue France’ color way ($60). It is made in a cashmere/wool blend with a classic Fair Isle pattern at the neck, and has three buttons at the side. The sweater is also offered in grey for boys ($60), as well as a Girl’s cardigan style ($60).
Amaia confirms George was on both of these styles today. Beneath his sweater it appeared George also wore a woven shirt with a Peter Pan collar trimmed with navy piping, reminiscent of this style.
Arguably it could have been a polo shirt with a tipped collar, similar to this Florence Eiseman style. I’m not suggesting it is this top, nor do I think the tipping is two colors, but this was the quickest result I could find.
My guess is that it is a woven shirt and not a knit like the Eiseman knit piece seen above; I don’t see Kate putting him in a knit shirt for today’s luncheon.
It was fun seeing both children today. I will update tomorrow when I hear back about Charlotte’s sweater. If you don’t pop back in, I hope everyone has wonderful holidays, wherever you may be and however you may be celebrating!
Wonderful article, as always. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
