Many will recognize the photographer’s name, it is Chris Jackson of Getty Images. From a BBC story:
Getty Images royal photographer Mr Jackson, who took the photo at the end of June, said: “I’m thrilled and honoured that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen to release this portrait to celebrate Prince George’s fourth birthday.
“He is such a happy little boy and certainly injects some fun into a photoshoot.”

Do you remember the photos for George’s 1st birthday, taken at a butterfly exhibit at the Natural History Museum?
His facial expressions were precious.
For his 2nd birthday the photo released was one taken at Charlotte’s christening by Mario Testino.

For that occasion we also put together some of his best facial expressions over the first two years of his life.

Happy Birthday George!
He looks more and more like his Granddad Michael Middleton.
Another cool shirt? I’m blown away by this young man’s style! Looks like bulk purchases of mandarin collar shirts have been made – sounds a bit like his mother and a favourite pair of shoes in a range of colours.
Mind you this latest shirt represents a fresh take of its own after the break-out into pink gingham for the last one. I’m pretty sure this is a completely different width of blue stripe 😉
Happy Birthday George!
He is cute and looks just like Michael at this point but I am not a fan of the Mandarin collar look in boys or mens shirts. ELizaMo I am not sure what other Mandarin collar shirt you have seen George in? Maybe I am misunderstanding your post. Re the stripe width, George’s and the one shown from Amaia look identical to me.
Elizamo, Whoops, I just went and looked at the prior post, that gingham shirt is a Mandarin collar style. You are right Kate is buying on a theme for the shirts. Still not a fan of the collar style:)
There’s no law that says you have to be a fan of these collars! But I really like the edginess, especially on a little fellah. It’s a hint of the manhood he’ll be assuming one day. It reminds me of the very old-fashioned shirts that needed to have their collars attached to them separately.
I am showing my age but all I can think of is the Nehru style jackets and shirts from the 60’s and the hippies and Beatles wearing them.
