Prince George was very sharply dressed for today’s pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.

You can see the Prince’s hair looks curlier since we last saw him. George was riding in the back seat with his mother and younger sister Charlotte, while his Uncle Harry was up front.

This is an annual event and all of the royals turn out for the luncheon. While the youngest children won’t be dining at the same table as their parents, grandparents and great grandparents, they still look festive for the occasion.

It initially appeared George was wearing the Rachel Riley top first seen for his visit to the Lindo Wing last May and again in the photos taken of George and Charlotte in June. However, the edges of his collar look more rounded; I have asked Rachel Riley if they could let us know if the Prince is wearing their Peter Pan collar piece.
Our thanks to several savvy Twitter friends their input on the shirt: Cindy, as well as Sara, another Sarah, along with Rebecca and Hovikirjeenvaihtaja.
The young Prince also wore a navy cardigan. I have made an inquiry with Rachel Riley to ask if perhaps George is wearing this cashmere piece from the brand’s Heritage line.
A sweater from Amaia Kids could also make sense, George has worn several of their cardigans. In responding to my inquiry about today’s style the company says his cardigan looks ‘similar’ to one of theirs, but they can’t say anything definitively because the available pictures show only a smidgen of the piece. That is understandable, these pictures are not at all conducive to identifying items of clothing.
As mentioned above, Princess Charlotte was in the car alongside Kate; Nanny Maria was on hand to look after the young Cambridges.
Our thanks to Rachael, she left a comment letting us know that George is in a black Maxi-Cosi car seat.

- The Daily Mail’s photo-laden story is here;
People Magazine posted an article stating that Catherine is buying cashmere goods for the children from an Italian brand called “Love in Kyo”. Do you know if this is true and if it is could be the source of some of the sweaters we have seen. ali
Hi Ali, I am sure the People story is true. I think you are correct about the brand being a possible or likely source for some of the UFO sweaters we have seen, absolutely. I did a quick update to this post showing one of their pink cardigans; while definitely not the same as Charlotte’s, it does have the 3/4 length sleeves like hers. I have made an inquiry to the company, hopefully we will hear back from them! 🙂
I can’t believe what a curly mop George has! He’s really plugging the retro theme with 1950s style outfits and full-on Victorian-cherub curls! No matter — one day he’ll get to wear what HE wants…
Meantime he does seem to be confined to something of a uniform, though at least the collar shape of his shirt has changed this time. The best thing is he’s clearly in something comfy so it’s likely he wouldn’t have to stand too much on form around his great-granny!
I’m struck by how graceful some of his gestures are so whatever he chooses will sit well I think. That seems a very seasoned royal bend of the wrist, resting-of-the-chin-on for, and in the photos I’m not supposed to have seen when he was at the Natural History Museum he had a very cool way of standing on what may be some impressively long legs.
Thanks so much for the post 🙂
Was Princess Charlotte there? Some articles are saying yes, some no! Where was she sitting if Kate, Prince George and nanny were all in the back seat?!
Yes, Charlotte was there. A couple of newspapers mentioned it, and Richard Palmer’s story in The Express also noted: “…royal sources confirmed that seven-month-old Charlotte was at the lunch.” Here’s the URL to that story: http://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/627253/Harry-Prince-George-Buckingham-Palace-Royal-Family-Christmas-lunch
In terms of where she was sitting, this is from the post: “George was riding in the back seat with his mother and younger sister Charlotte, while his Uncle Harry was up front.” 🙂
I spy a black Maxi-Cosi car seat! 🙂
Oooh, I did not notice that! I just added it to the post, thank you for letting me know! 🙂
