Today Kensington Palace released the official photographs of Princess Charlotte’s christening.
All four pictures are the work of renowned photographer Mario Testino.
In the formal family portrait seen above the expressions on the little Princess and her bother are endearing. Prince George looks ever-so-serious, as if he is concentrating very hard on sitting still and being on his best behavior.
The Palace’s fairly recent practice of using social media to share official news was on display this afternoon; the photos were first released on Kensington Palace’s Instagram account.
The gifted photographer captured some lovely images, including this joyful shot of Prince William and Prince George.
This more informal image almost has an Instagram feel to it, something Kate and William obviously preferred regardless of lighting or composition issues.
Along with the pictures Kensington Palace released a statement from Kate and William:
‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their whole family had a wonderful day on Sunday and were delighted to share the special occasion with the thousands of people who came to Sandringham.
They are very happy to share these photographs and hope that everyone enjoys them as much as they do.’
Prince George’s expressions are particularly engaging.
In some photos Mr. Testino captured a more relaxed tone than that seen in the official portraits from Prince George’s christening taken by Jason Bell.
But there was also some fabulous imagery from George’s christening, like this darling image of George looking animated and happy.
In the photos released today Princess Charlotte almost looks peaceful, and seems to be peering straight into the camera.
It’s always a treat to see new pictures of Prince George and Princess Charlotte with their parents, especially on a joyous occasion like a christening.
Mario Testino had more comments about the Cambridges on his Instagram account, Susan, if you want to add those to your post.
Thank you Brenda, I’m off to look at them!! You’re wonderful to let me know. 🙂
