We are back with details on what George wore for a beach outing on his birthday. The young royal spent the morning at Norfolk Beach with his grandmother, Carole Middleton. We are not licensed to publish the photos (and wouldn’t do so if we were), but you can see them here at PopSugar.
HRH was in a jacket from a homegrown brand, Joules. George was in the Joules Baby Milford Quilted Jacket, we show it at Amazon UK.
It is a classic country style look: a quilted jacket with corduroy collar and tartan lining, seen below.
The jacket is 100% polyester and machine washable. It is priced at £29.95, about $40 at today’s exchange rates. If not available in the size you need, an alternative is the Joules Baby Boys Quilted Jacket in navy, it is also offered in Midnight Blue. This particular style is on sale with prices starting at £32.95.
Some readers may recall that the Duchess of Cambridge has a very similar jacket by Barbour. If Mom is looking for a similar piece, the Women’s Classic Quilted Jacket in Navy is a stellar choice. It is on sale for £45.95.
For those who would like to purchase Joules merchandise, the primary website is here, and the US site is here. If you prefer using Amazon you can visit the Joules store here. The company’s wares are also available on the Amazon US site, just not in a ‘branded store.’ This happens to be a brand I am fond of, I wrote a brief Joules profile for our sister site, if interested you may read it here.
You might recognize the backpack being carried by Carole Middleton. It is by Cath Kidston, and in the the same London Guards pattern as the vest (aka Tank Top) George wore in the pre-Christmas 2014 photos.
The Guards design is a popular motif for the retailer. The piece is actually referred to as a “rucksack” on the Cath Kidston website.
The mini-backpack is sold out, but there are other rucksacks available here, all priced at $26. And if fond of the London Guards pattern there is a good amount of merchandise in the popular pattern. One FYI: there was discussion the vest would be reissued, but the good folks at Cath Kidston advise me that is *not* the case. Thank you to Irish Sara on Twitter for alerting us to the backpack.
The young royal wore his Converse All Stars again. We show them at Zappos, where they are $30 with free shipping.
The style is also available at Amazon, where prices vary by size, with smaller sizes starting at $18. And it is offered at Kohl’s, where it is $27.99. In the UK Very has the Trainer for £25; it is the same price at Schuh.
The shorts George is wearing look like the same pair worn for his outing at Bucklebury Farm Park in early July. (Those PopSugar photos are here.) We still don’t have these identified, but we’re working on it.
George was playing with a ‘Happy, Giddy Pail’ from Melissa and Doug ($9.99), our thanks to Cambridge 411 on Twitter for that information. He also had what looked like a Caterpillar model toy, perhaps the ‘Big Builder Excavator,’ shown at KMart.
It looked like George had a thoroughly good time at the beach, a fun start to his 2nd birthday.
One other note to relate, this one regarding the Olivier Baby cashmere cardigan George wore to watch polo on June 15.
The ‘Cashmere Cardigan with Small Star’ in denim blue with grey.
On the WKKW Facebook page we heard from someone who has purchased this sweater piece, only she bought it in pink. At any rate, Mary shared that the cardigan she bought for her granddaughter is “beautifully made and so soft and cute.” Mary also noted that the quality of the sweater is “worth every penny.” That’s good to know, especially if still considering a purchase of the the sweater for a little one in your life.
It’s sheer bliss to come into this happy world of What the Tinies Wore. And I’m delighted to see George suitably wrapped against those brisk East Anglia breezes, the quilted jacket looks perfect. It’s soft enough to move about in and tough enough to deal with the weather. It even looks smart and at such a good price 🙂
I love too the way his Mum is having fun with the soldier’s motif given that George will be the man in charge of all of the real ones one day. Very witty!
And George is clearly being brought up to be tough — I can’t believe that sea wasn’t freezing — though maybe not so bad at the very edge. His enthusiasm for digging in the sand knows no bounds and the cheery pail was put to good use.
I’d like to join with the vote of approval for such a tremendous granny prepared to really get stuck in with the whole grand adventure.
I meant to add how lovely it was to hear Mary found the quality of the cardigan to be so good. One to store for future reference I think!
Carole Middleton is the coolest grandmother. She’s very active and clearly his primary grandparent. I love George’s quilted jacket, and I share your affection for Joules. Wonderful designs, reasonable prices.
